Job Description

Position Summary

The Controller oversees the day to day operations of the Accounting Department and supervising Accounting Department personnel. The Controller is critical in ensuring compliance with the Organization’s accounting policies and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and ensuring completion of year-end financial audits.


Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Manage a staff of Bookkeepers and Accountants
  • Manage the accounts receivable and accounts payable cycles
  • Manage construction draws
  • Prepare monthly financial reports
  • Prepare City Annual Reporting, review other lender and investor reporting as assigned
  • Review quarterly budget to actual variance
  • Prepare year-end audit package for external auditors
  • Prepare annual tenant rent increases ensuring compliance with regulatory agreements.
  • Assist with various other accounting functions
  • Work closely with CFO on special projects
  • Maintain up-to-date AR procedures for full time Resident Managers, provide day to day support and on-going training. Provide feedback to Property Management.
  • Work closely with all team members to carry out strategic plan and strengthen Diversity and Inclusion efforts.




  • Yardi experience required
  • Multi-family real estate experience required
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Good verbal and written skills

 Education and Experience

  • 4 Year Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Equivalent required
  • 4 to 5 years of real estate job experience preferred, with at least 2 years of supervision responsibilities
