Job Description

Privately held investment firm based in Charlotte, NC focused primarily on investments in the affordable housing industry is seeking a President for their property management operations. The company owns or manages over 270 properties representing more than 14,000 apartment units through its subsidiaries. The company’s footprint covers Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Virginia.


  • Lead and manage a team of 700 with 7 direct reports.
  • Must excel in team building and coaching
  • Develop and mentor the property management leadership team.

Growth and assimilation of property management companies

  •  Successfully integrate 2 separate existing property management firms into 1 cohesive organization, with the ability to integrate additional property management companies through acquisition
  • Analyze and review systems and software to insure efficiency and scalability
  • Align property management operations to reduce redundancies and fill gaps
  • Develop a strategy for growth and expansion through acquisition, as well as third party property management services

Risk Management

  • Assess the portfolio insurance needs
  • Assess and manage the risk exposure of the management company
  • Maintain and develop policies and procedures to mitigate risk


  • Manage portfolio for maximum economic impact
  • Oversee portfolio and company budgeting process
  • Must have a keen understanding of financial reporting and accounting procedures
  • Work with leadership and asset management to develop and monitor 5-10 year portfolio needs assessments/capital improvements program


  • Report directly to the COO
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with corporation management, property owners, vendors, lenders, state and federal agency contacts, and corporation board of advisors



  • BS required, advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive affordable housing operations experience, experience in multiple states preferred
  • 10+ years of proven supervisory experience with similar size organizations
  • Experience integrating entities through acquisition preferred
  • RE sales/broker license a plus
